Congratulations to R&B singer and songwriter H.E.R on her Oscar win for “Best Original Song” for her song "Fight For You" featured in Judas and the Black Messiah!

“I am so, so, so grateful, not only to win but to be a part of such an important, important story,” H.E.R. said in her acceptance speech. “Thank you to the Academy—I’ve always wanted to say that! I have to thank God for giving us these gifts. And my parents, my beautiful mother who’s here with me today and my father at home, all those days of listening to Sly & the Family Stone and Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye really paid off, so thank you, Dad.”

Initially, H.E.R spent a period of her identity hidden from the public, actively producing music in a state of obscurity, quickly capturing the interests of people who took notice of her powerful acoustic melodies and refreshing use of the bass guitar.  Fans were eager to know who this fresh new voice was, why she was hiding and what her name represented

H.E.R clarified “the mystery is a metaphor for who I am, or who I was at the time of creating the project… I feel like oftentimes we don’t like to be open as people about our emotions or things that we’re going through.”

Although, H.E.R. keeps a low profile from time to time, the irony of her name which is an acronym for Having Everything Revealed is really about confessing her stories, her truth, her emotions through her music.

Today, H.E.R has completely evolved from the shadows and into the light, captivating us with her eclectic style and brilliant use of fashion accessories like her pair of dark sunglasses and gorgeously stacked necklaces, embodying a sort of relaxed and mysterious confidence which seems to compliment her persona as a lowkey musical artist we’ve been getting to know since the release of her first album in 2017.

Prior to the pandemic, Yael Designs had the pleasure of meeting H.E.R at the BET Awards where she performed “Lord is Coming” with YBN Cordae. Yehouda Saketkhou, the head designer here at YAEL, knew this was the perfect opportunity to gift H.E.R the Yaelita Layered “Anya” Diamond Necklace, featuring two layers of open marquise motifs with diamonds that creates a playful stackable look that H.E.R is very much known for.

We were thrilled to see that H.E.R took the necklace on vacation to celebrate her 21st birthday.

The layered necklace looks amazing styled with her teal cotton blouse as she sings “Racks” on the ukulele overlooking the beautiful Hawaiian views. What an amazing way to celebrate her 21st birthday!
